This weekend started for us on Thursday evening. We ventured to the Lycoming County Fair to walk around and get some much adored "Fair Food". We were chased out by T-storms worthy of CallieannBrats adoration, but not before enjoying some milk shakes, pinwheels, sausage sandwhiches and what not. It was nice to be out on a "date".
Friday morning we had our July (one a month) Doctor's appt. This was the one where we could hope to hear the baby's heartbeat. First it started with some good news that I had lost about 5 lbs. Since becoming pregnant I have found its very difficult to eat the same portions I was used to. So I find myself eating more often, but smaller amounts. Must be working. Though I would expect to NOT continue a trend of weight loss as we enter the Second Trimester tomorrow. Doc said everything looked perfect, my test results from the previous month looked good, no gestational diabetes, no problems. She cautioned me that at 13 weeks 5 days it is possible we might not yet hear a heartbeat and I confirmed that I understood as well, that my weight was a hindurance to that as well. But... it was all for not, becauese within a few short seconds of probing with the dopplar (which looks like a tiny walkman with a microphone) she found it. Little peanut's heart was racing at a healthy 172 bpm. At our first ultrasound it was 174. So he/she is doing great. It was such a neat sound to hear, so vibrant and very discernable from my much slower sloosh, sloosh heart rate which the Dr. also "showed" to us. But even better than that music to my ears, was the words the doctor left us with... "at this point it would be very, very , extremely rare for anything to go wrong, enjoy your pregnancy!"
Whoooo freakin! Hoooo!!! What a relief, what a weight from our shoulders. I don't think either one of us realized we were still being cautious about getting too excited. But now... now we are in it for the long haul and ready! We're planning the room, and we're really , really looking forward to our 9/11 appointment where we learn the sex of the baby.
Anyone want to begin venturing a guess?
So that kicked off our Friday on a great note!! After that we had breakfast and headed home to get set up for our yard sale.
Let's just say the yard sale was a huge mistake. Too much work, too much time and we're left with too much stuff. We just live too far away from any town to make it worthwhile. The church up the road had a flea market and the only customers we had came from there. But all in all we only made about $130. Not a success and we still have boxes of stuff to dispose of because it is not coming back in the house.
So today is housework day, getting things caught up and back to normal before kicking off another long week of work.
I might be heading to Atlanta, GA for the first week of August for training. I have doctor's blessing, just waiting on some final arrangements at work to fall into place. Might only take the kodak camera to cut down on luggage and stuff for a mere 3 day trip. But I am sure there will still be pictures!!
Hope everyone is having their perfect kind of Sunday, windows open, radio or in my case record player on and doing your favorite things!!!
